Landscape Sculpture – International Gateway Center, 2026

International Gateway Center – Outdoor Landscape Sculpture Installation Unveiled as a New Streamlined Landmark at West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Hub

The outdoor landscape sculpture installation at the International Gateway Centre (IGC), Level 2 platform, located atop the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station, has been completed in May 2026. The artwork enhances the visual experience at the main entrances of the IG C4 Commercial Tower, adding a distinctive urban focal point to the area.

Designed with the sculpture concept by Zaha Hadid, the project was carried through a comprehensive end-to-end management process by the team, spanning approximately six months. The scope included structural design, safety factor assessment, and the complex sequence of works from fabrication, segment-based transport, to on-site assembly—ensuring the installation met stringent technical and safety requirements.

The sculpture installation is divided into two parts. Built primarily with stainless steel and aluminium panels, it features a highly streamlined form language that harmonises with the architectural lines and façade rhythm of the IGC four towers. The two components are positioned within the platform area and the landscaped zone at the main entrance of the office tower:
Tower 2: located at the primary position on the platform, with an estimated spatial volume of approximately **15m (width) × 45m (length);
Part 1: located in the landscaped area at the office tower’s main entrance, covering approximately **30m (width) × 110m.

Overall, the installation is among the largest single landscape sculpture works in Hong Kong, combining precise engineering with artistic design. In addition, the landscape design incorporates water features and lighting elements, creating a dynamic interplay of water and light that enriches the ambience of the public space and allows the sculpture to present different visual expressions throughout the day.

This project demonstrates the successful collaboration between international design vision and engineering execution, further reinforcing IGC’s commitment to integrating art and architecture to shape new urban landmarks.
